Overview
Hey there! I’m Robby Incmikoski, and after more than 16 years traveling with Major League Baseball as a TV reporter (most of that with the Pirates), I’ve put together a project that means the world to me.
It’s called Sacred Grounds, and it’s part photo book, part story collection, and 100% a love letter to the ballparks that make baseball so special.
This all started in 2017 when I bought a digital camera before Opening Day at Fenway—just to grab a few fun photos. One thing led to another, and… well, here we are. I’ve now taken thousands of behind-the-scenes photos from all 30 MLB ballparks (plus the Hall of Fame), and interviewed over 90 people: players, fans, vendors, bar owners, broadcasters—you name it.
Every park has a story. Actually, dozens of them. And Sacred Grounds is my way of taking you on a full-access tour of the quirks, history, beauty, and heart of each one.
The book includes:
Photos you’d never get as a regular fan (seriously—dugout tunnels, bullpen gear setups, press dining, everything short of the clubhouse!)
Short stories you can read in one sitting
Stories both legendary and wonderfully random (including how I once found myself standing at a urinal next to the greatest broadcaster in baseball history, Vin Scully)
This started as something I just wanted to make for myself. But after I lost the Pirates job in 2023 (long story short: life happens), it became something bigger. A celebration. A goodbye. And hopefully, a book that other fans will love as much as I do.
So whether you’ve been to all 30 ballparks or none at all, I hope Sacred Grounds brings you the joy, humor, and wonder that these places have given me over the years.
Thanks for checking it out—and thank you for supporting this project.
About Robby
Robby Incmikoski is a longtime sports broadcaster who spent 16 seasons as a television field reporter and host for Major League Baseball, covering the Minnesota Twins (2009–2012), Pittsburgh Pirates (2013–2023), and Texas Rangers (2024). A South Philadelphia native, Robby got his start working as a ball boy and in the training room for the Philadelphia Eagles.
In addition to his MLB work, Robby has also reported for the Phoenix Coyotes, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Wild, and University of Minnesota hockey. A passionate fan of baseball stadiums and the stories they hold, he has traveled to and photographed all 30 Major League ballparks. His upcoming book, Sacred Grounds: What Our Ballparks Mean to Us, is a behind-the-scenes look at the places that connect teams to their cities—and the people who bring them to life.
